Writers' Guidelines:
- All Scripture quotations are to come from the King James Bible.
- No articles will be published that contradict our statement of faith.
- Keep in mind that one of the goals of Stepping in the Light is to encourage young women to keep their focus on Christ during their single years, and then to follow Biblical examples and teaching in getting to the marriage altar with pure emotions, spirit, and body. Please, therefore, avoid mention of dating other than in personal testimonies of how the Lord taught you these truths.
- When using personal illustrations, take care to be totally truthful. We all enjoy a good story and sometimes tend to change parts of ours if we think it makes a better illustration. The best illustrations you have, however, are of those events the Lord allowed in your life-exactly as they happened. True testimony is a very effective form of teaching. Remember to get permission from those involved before you use a testimony or an illustration in which they were involved.
- If you send an article that has already been published, please let us know.
Writing Tips:
- Before you begin, pray and ask the Lord for wisdom, clarity, and direction. Ask Him to show you if there is something in your life that would hinder your message reaching others.
- Seek to have a genuine spirit of humility as you share what God has taught you. Because your goal is to reach others' hearts (as opposed to proving a point), remember that we all tend to more easily respond to truth if the one sharing it has a building spirit rather than a judgmental spirit.
Sending Instructions:
- You can either mail your article (see contact info. for address) or e-mail it.
- Consider sending your picture and a short biographical sketch for print (space permitting) so we can all better know you. When e-mailing a picture, send it as a .jpeg attachment.
- When mailing articles or pictures, please include a SASE if you would like them returned.
Note: All articles to be used at editor's discretion. We reserve the right to edit. (If you request, we will contact you concerning any editing other than grammar and punctuation changes.)
If you don't see your article right away, that doesn't mean we are not going to use it. Sometimes we may not have room in that particular issue or we may sense that the Lord wants us to save it. In either case, we will keep it in a file for later use.
Thank you &
Happy Writing!
